Sydney set to host top Australian and International classical guitarists in the inaugural Classical Guitar Festival Sydney

Guitar Passion is proud to announce to music club and society members across NSW and interstate that it will be hosting the Inaugural Classical Guitar Festival Sydney with a line up of concerts, exhibitions, masterclasses, talks, and social events for both classical guitar aficionados and those who appreciate fine music.
Running from 16 - 19 November 2017 at the Mosman Art Gallery and the Sydney Opera House, the festival will showcase world class Australian and international classical guitar performances in 8 concerts including a special festival opening concert by Australia’s very own Guitar Trek celebrating their 30th Anniversary of music making. The concluding concert of the festival will be performed by Spanish guitarist José Maria Gallardo Del Rey, one of the world’s pre-eminent classical guitarists and flamencos artists. Other artists gracing the stage over the four day festival include young French superstar of the classical guitar Thibaut Garcia performing a programme of French and Spanish masterpieces; Vladimir Gorbach (Guitar Foundation of America first place prize winner, Naxos recording artist and head guitar tutor Sydney Conservatorium); Andrew Blanche (first prize winner Melbourne Guitar Foundation International Guitar Competition 2016), mimi duo (piano and guitar duo); the Sydney Guitar Trio featuring Rory O’Donoghue; and also The Bradley Kunda Trio (guitar, flute and voice) showcasing Australian works.
The festival will also be a wonderful opportunity for students and enthusiasts of the classical guitar to enjoy exhibits of instruments, try out a new (or old!) instrument or to browse some merchandise. The festival performers will be holding masterclasses which will be open to the public, as well as giving some pre-concert talks and lectures. Guitar players will have an opportunity to perform in an “open-mic” session in a public space that will be friendly and supportive.
Classical guitar festivals are a mainstay of the musical calendars of the Americas and Europe, and Guitar Passion is pleased that Sydney will now have its very own classical guitar festival to showcase to the world.
Please have a look at https://www.eventbrite.com.au/o/classical-guitar-festival-sydney-9225904404 for information and how to book.
For more information please visit the Guitar Passion Facebook page or navigate your browser to www.guitarpassion.com.au
More details on masterclass schedules will be supplied as the dates are finalised.
